Coachella Valley Rescue Mission – CVRM

84-110 Manila Ave.,
Indio, CA 92201
Annex Building – 9,810 sq. ft. single story building
87,745 sq. ft. site area

ORR Builders began construction on the new Annex Building project for the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission in October of 2014 and completed the project mid-April 2015. The Annex, which will serve as an emergency shelter is located directly adjacent to the Rescue Mission. The Annex consists of a 10,000 square foot building and will provide services for up to 75 men, women and children seeking emergency shelter. The Annex will specifically provide 24 hour care and shelter to the homeless while case management works to assist with individual referrals to either in-house residential programs or other local agencies. It will include separate sleeping areas for men and women as well as serve as a 24-hour hot and cold weather shelter, providing refuge from extreme weather conditions. Health to Hope, a local non-profit will lease and staff a space within the Annex for a medical-dental clinic. Now that this building is completed, CVRM will be able to reclaim much needed space for their expanding program, including a multi-purpose room.

Since 1971, the Rescue Mission has strived to meet the ever-growing needs of individuals, who for a variety of reasons, have found themselves without the basic necessities of life. A dedicated staff and volunteers serve more than 198,000 hot meals annually and provide 72,000 nights of safe shelter to men, women and children. Food, clothing, and showers are also provided for those who do not shelter at the Mission.

In 2011 ORR Builders built the 43,000 square foot New Beginning Building facility that sits directly across from the current 9,500 square foot shelter built around the 1930's or 1940's. The new facility has a men's shelter, women and children's shelter, multipurpose room, training center, chapel, clinic, gymnasium, courtyard, dining hall and full kitchen. It will provide housing to 150 men, women and children and serve as an emergency overnight shelter to 50 people in need. The old facility at its fullest capacity could house only 80 people with another 35 overnight. Construction started in February of 2011 and was completed a month ahead of schedule on November 7th
